What we do for your clinic

A clinic is a small business with staff, equipment and specific tax rules. We keep everything in order.

Staff payroll

Hygienists, assistants, receptionists: pay runs, source deductions, remittances, RL-1 and T4 slips.

Professional corporation

Bookkeeping for your business corporation and the T2 and CO-17 corporate returns.

Salary or dividends

We work out the mix that lowers your total tax, taking the QPP and your RRSPs into account.

Bookkeeping

On QuickBooks Online: clinic revenue, suppliers, labs and expenses sorted and reconciled.

Year-end financial statements

Prepared with our partner CPA firm, for your bank or your partners.

Sales taxes

Most health care is exempt from GST/QST, but not everything: product sales, cosmetic services. We check what is taxable.

Expenses clinics often forget

They qualify when they are incurred to earn the clinic's income and you keep the receipts.

  • Equipment and depreciation

Chairs, devices, computers: their cost is deducted over several years through capital cost allowance.

  • Professional dues

Annual fees to your professional order and professional liability insurance.

  • Continuing education

Courses and conferences related to your practice.

  • Clinic management software

Booking, patient records, billing: deductible subscriptions.

  • Rent and occupancy costs

Clinic rent, maintenance, electricity and premises insurance.

  • Care supplies

Gloves, masks, care and sterilization supplies.

  • Advertising and website

Website, search optimization and ads: advertising expenses.

  • Accounting fees

Fees for your bookkeeping and tax returns are deductible.

Practising through a corporation: is it worth it for you?

In Quebec, many health professionals can practise through a business corporation, under the conditions set by their professional order.

The benefit depends mostly on how much of your income you can leave in the corporation. A corporation also costs more to run: bookkeeping, corporate returns, minute book.

We compare the scenarios with your real numbers: total tax, salary or dividends and running costs. You decide knowing what it changes.

How much do your services cost for a clinic?

Bookkeeping starts at $175 per month and the full package (bookkeeping, payroll and year-end) at $250 per month. For a fixed price, tell us how many bank accounts and credit cards the clinic has, the approximate number of transactions per month and the number of employees: we reply in writing.

Most health services provided by a recognized professional are exempt from GST/QST. Some services, such as cosmetic treatments, and product sales can be taxable. We check your situation.

Do you handle payroll for our staff?

Yes: pay runs, source deductions, remittances to the CRA and Revenu Québec, and RL-1 and T4 slips at year-end.

Who prepares our year-end financial statements?

We prepare your year-end, and the financial statements are done with our partner CPA firm.

How does switching accountants work?

For businesses considering becoming clients, we start with a 30-minute meeting at no cost. If you decide to switch, you get a fixed price in writing before we start, and we take care of setting up your file.
